City of Madison Fire Engine Company 4, was dispatched to a diesel spill at the Open Pantry located at 1401 Regent Street at 10:38 AM. When they arrived, they found a semi delivery truck had punctured its diesel tank, while trying to maneuver in the small parking area. The driver pinched the tank as he tried to back out of the lot.

The manager of the Open Pantry was outside at the time, and saw the fuel leaking onto the parking lot. She immediately called 911. The truck, which has a 75 gallon tank, came from Gurnee, Illinois to make a delivery. Engine 4 Crew was able to stop any fuel from entering roadways or the sewer system. The Lieutenant requested the assistance of the HazMat Teams from Station #5 and Station #6, to help control the spill. The Team was able to collect 8 gallons of diesel fuel, and absorbed 50 gallons with hydrocarbon pads and oil dry.

The truck was towed by Schmidt's and City Streets spread sand on the remainder of the product.

No one was injured during at this incident.
