Latest Madison Arts Commission Blink Project installed on Atwood Ave

Angela Richardson began an interpersonal journey last summer when she got an idea to create a photographic portrait series to document the people who live, work, and play in her unique Madison neighborhood. According to Richardson, "The making and showing of these portraits is intended to honor and acknowledge the importance of individuals in the creation of community." The project grew over the last year as she met and photographed dozens of her neighbors where they were: in their gardens, attending festivals, at work, and at home. Now her long anticipated Blink temporary art project, funded by the City of Madison through the Madison Arts Commission, is beginning to show its face in and around Schenk-Atwood. Vinyl panels printed with images from "The Face of a Place" were installed in the windows of the Martin Glass workshops at 2323 Atwood Avenue this week. The artist intends to place more images in surprising places throughout the summer. So, as you ride through the neighborhood, look carefully and you might be seeing more then a facade, you could be looking at "The Face of the Place."

Next BLINK application deadline is October 1, 2009.
