City of Madison residents are reminded that they should dig out carts, Christmas trees and brush from snow banks to insure that the material will be collected.

"We always encounter problems with carts and other items being buried in snow banks at this time of year," Madison recycling coordinator George Dreckmann said. "We need help from residents in removing items like Christmas trees, branches, carts, and furniture from the snow so we can collect it."

"We are having particular problems in neighborhoods where we collect material in alleys," Dreckmann said. "Many carts are buried in the snow and our collection crews are unable to get them out. We will not be able to collect refuse and recycling in these areas unless the carts are dug out of the snow."
