Snow Will Not Halt Collection

The Streets Division is planning to conduct regular refuse and recycling collection on Friday December 19th. Large Item collection will be suspended due to the impending snowstorm. Residents are asked to hold their large items until after the holidays if possible.

"At this time we are planning to conduct regular refuse and recycling collection tomorrow," Madison recycling coordinator George Dreckmann said. "Residents should go ahead and place their carts out for collection. If we see more snow that we anticipate, we will make a decision to cancel collection later on Friday, but right now we are planning to conduct our regular collection."

Residents should not place their carts in the street as snowplows will be out all night on main streets and it is anticipated that plowing of residential streets may begin early Friday morning.

For the latest information on collection service on Friday residents should go to the Streets Division's web site www.cityofmadison.com, or call 267-2088.

Residents can also sign up for text messages and/or e-mail alerts whenever we declare a snow emergency at www.cityofmadison.com/winter. You can also get the latest updates on snow operations.
