The City of Madison Clerk’s Office has sent absentee ballots to 81,861 voters for the Nov. 3 Presidential Election. 

The November ballot includes President, Congress, State Legislature, District Attorney, County Clerk, County Treasurer, and Register of Deeds.  Voters who reside in the Madison Metropolitan School District or the Waunakee Community School District will also have school referenda questions on their ballot.

In order for an absentee ballot to count, the absentee envelope must be sealed, the voter must sign the envelope, the voter’s witness must sign the envelope, and the witness address must be listed on the envelope.  Absentee ballots must be returned early enough that the Clerk’s Office can deliver them to the polls to be counted on Election Day.

Voters are invited to hand-deliver their absentee ballots to poll workers in the nearest City of Madison neighborhood park, community park, or mini park between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on September 26 or October 3.  Poll workers at the Democracy in the Park event will be wearing bright yellow vests and will be stationed near a Vote yard sign.  If we have inclement weather, the event will be held on Sunday instead.

Voters may check myvote.wi.gov to determine whether the Clerk’s Office has received their ballot back in the mail.  The status of ballots delivered to poll workers at the Democracy in the Park event will be updated the following day.

In-person absentee voting will be available at twenty sites throughout the city beginning Tuesday, Oct. 20.
