Thanks to the partnership of the Shelley Glover Foundation, the Boys and Girls Club of Dane County, the Irwin A. and Robert D. Goodman Foundation and Madison Parks, Goodman Pool has a successful summer swim program. By working together, the organizations have helped remove barriers of transportation and cost to provide swim lessons to a more racial and socio-economic diverse group of children. The program is designed to teach children to swim and to be safe and confident around water. Through this program, staff at Goodman Pool provided swim lessons to over 150 participants from the Boys and Girls Club of Dane County this summer.

On Friday, August 14 we will celebrate those swimmers with a graduation party at Goodman Pool. We will begin with a short program at 1:00 pm followed by refreshments and open swim.

The Irwin A. & Robert D. Goodman Pool, located at 325 W. Olin Ave., is the first municipal swimming pool that became a reality in 2006 thanks to long-time community members and philanthropists Irwin and Robert Goodman’s generous donation of $2.8 million.

Goodman Pool features a 1000 person capacity, 2 waterslides, 8 lane 25-meter lap area with diving board, and a number of shallow water play features for pre-school aged children. The pool area is complete with sand play area, concessions, changing rooms, deck chairs, umbrella tables and shade structures. The pool will be open through Monday, September 7.
