On September 14, 2012, The Madison Professional Police Officers Association (MPPOA) and Association of Madison Police Supervisors (AMPS) held their 13th Annual Charity Golf Outing at the Pleasant View Golf Course in Waunakee. This event raised over $12,000 for this year's beneficiary, the UW Carbone Cancer Center.

UW Carbone Cancer Center is committed to leading-edge research to provide better treatment and, ultimately, cures for cancer. In addition, the McArdle Laboratory for Cancer Research, an integral part of the UW Carbone Cancer Center (UWCCC), is dedicated to cancer research and conducts some of the most innovative research in this field.

Since 1999, MPPOA and AMPS, the unions representing commissioned personnel of the City of Madison Police Department, have organized an annual charity golf event to raise money for a variety of local, non-profit charities. The unions could not have made these events possible without the combined effort from the civilian staff of the Madison Police Department, as well.

To date, over $135,000 has been raised for local charities such as:
