MPD Partners with Safe Communities

They can prevent children from using guns, and advocates believe they may also stop some suicide attempts.

Now gun owners can get free gun locks from the Madison Police Department. They will be available at all district stations, and at the MPD's Training Center from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., Monday-Friday.

The MPD is proud to partner with Safe Communities of Madison-Dane County in this effort.
Safe Communities spearheaded the program, which also involves other local law enforcement agencies. The Charles E. Kubly Foundation has provided funding for the initiative.

More information on suicide prevention can be found on the Prevent Suicide Wisconsin website: http://www.preventsuicidewi.org/
