Fire destroyed a play structure in the Sauk Heights Park on Bear Claw Way last night. Engine 12 was called to the scene shortly before midnight. When firefighters arrived, they found the structure well involved with fire. Water was used to extinguish the fire that involved the play equipment and the rubber surface surrounding the structure.

The structure is a total loss and the damage is estimated at $20,000. No injuries were reported at the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. City of Madison Fire and Police Department investigators are interviewing people in the neighborhood. They are asking anyone with information on the fire to please contact the Madison Fire Investigation Office at 266-4488.
