Cross County Skiing - The Parks Division of the City of Madison has groomed all of the ski trails at Elver Park and the main loop at Odana Golf Course. The trails at Olin Turville, South Cherokee and Monona Golf Course have also been groomed for track skiing only. Crews have groomed the Odana Golf Course trails again today. Crews plan to groom the trails at Elver Park on Sunday following the next snowfall.

At this time the only cross country ski trails not groomed are those at Owen Conservation Park. Crews will be working on those trails early next week.

The warming shelters at both Odana Golf Course and Elver Park will be open on Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Skis will be available for rent at both locations. Prices are: Adults $10.00 for the first hour and $5.00 for each additional hour. Children age 15 and under are $5.00 per hour. These prices include the cost of a daily ski permit.

Sledding - There are sledding hills at Hiestand, Olbrich and Warner Parks on the Eastside and at Arbor Hills, Elver and Huegel Jamestown Parks on the Westside.

Outdoor Ice Rinks: PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL of the outdoor ice rinks remain closed due to thin ice. Many of the ice rinks have open water areas. The public is asked to keep off of the ice and away from the edges. Tenney Park is particularly dangerous with holes and soft spots. The Lagoon is over 10 feet deep. For your safety - STAY OFF THE ICE. It takes a minimum of 6 days of below freezing to produce safe ice. The recent snowSs have an insulating effect and hamper freezing.

The public may call 266-4711 for more information or log on to our website at www.cityofmadison.com/parks. Please listen to your local radio and/or TV station for the latest conditions.
