Madison Police and Madison Fire investigators are seeking help in identifying those responsible for igniting fires that have left children in two neighborhoods without playground equipment.

The first blaze broke out in Marlborough Park, 2222 Whenona Dr., around 1:15 a.m. on October 14, 2007. Flames caused an estimated $100,000 damage to a playground structure.

The second fire occurred on November 16th at 9:30 in the evening at Eken Park on Coolidge Street. This time playground equipment worth $40,000 was destroyed.

There are some similarities in the cases, but it is not known whether the same arsonists are involved.

Both fires have left a lot of children without popular play areas.

Anyone with information is urged to call Madison Crime Stoppers. Callers can remain anonymous and maybe eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.

In a separate arson case involving Madison Parks, criminal charges are being sought against teenage suspects who investigators believe set a fire at Demetral Field, 601 N. Sixth St. This arson was called in around 4:33 p.m. on October 12, 2007. A small fire was contained to a men's bathroom.
