The MPower Business Champions program is administered by Sustain Dane, a local non-profit organization working to promote sustainability and sustainability innovations across many sectors of society.
Since the program’s beginning in 2009, nearly 70 businesses and organizations have implemented meaningful change in areas of waste reduction, energy efficiency, transportation and supply chain efficiency, employee wellness and engagement and community outreach.

These changes have a measurable impact on our environment and on participants’ financial bottom lines.  From 2009-20013, MPower Business Champions collectively reduced CO2 emissions by over 26,110 tons and saved $1,657,000 in annual costs.

Along with implementing projects and tracking their impact, the 2014 MPower class will attend monthly Sustainability Sessions, which are being opened up to the public.  The schedule of Sustainability Sessions is available on Sustain Dane’s website.  Topics covered at sessions range from Alternative Transportation to Energy Efficiency for Facilities.  The June Sustainability Session will focus on Waste Reduction and will be held on June 17, from 8:30 – 10:30 a.m. at the Goodman Community Center.  Registration is free for 2014 MPower participants and Sustainable Business Network members and $10.00 for the public.

The City of Madison is proud to provide funding support for the MPower Champions program, along with the U.S. EPA Climate Showcase Communities Grant, Madison Gas & Electric and CUNA Mutual Foundation.
