Last night a Kenosha Police officer shot Jacob Blake multiple times in the back. This young Black father is in serious condition in a Milwaukee area hospital today.

I join all Madisonians as we send our hopes that he will recover, and send our support to his family.

The pattern of excessive use of force by law enforcement against the Black community across our country must stop. I join those across the state who are demanding change.

Destruction of property is unacceptable and further divides the community that supports change. I support all those in our community who protest this pattern with peaceful action, and

I support those who are working peacefully to root out systemic racism from all aspects of our society.
