The City of Madison Fire Department Firefighter Recruit Group 29 will graduate from the Department's fire academy today at 2 p.m. Commencement for the 13 firefighter recruits will take place at Monona Terrace, 1 John Nolen Drive.
This 20-week training academy, under the direction of the department's Fire Training Division, is designed to prepare the recruits for the mental and physical demands required of a firefighter/EMT with the City of Madison Fire Department.

When the newest members of the department leave the academy, they are assigned to a fire station. The crew at the station will oversee the recruit's continuing training and education on the job, insuring that they safely learn how to apply the education and techniques they learned in the academy.
