On Saturday, March 7, City of Madison Fire Crews responded to the University of Wisconsin-Madison Engineering Centers Building for a report of a fire in an oven. A researcher placed some items in an oven to dry but was unaware the oven temperature was set too high, which then started a fire. The fire was confined to the oven and self extinguished, but damage is estimated up to $10,000. Several computers and microscopes were damaged due to soot, smoke and some water damage.

UW Safety also responded to the scene along with the Madison Fire Investigator.

No on was injured.
