Narrative:

Ladder 7 responded for a report of gray smoke coming out of the rear of the home. The occupants were on the sidewalk, and everyone was accounted for. L7 was directed to the basement stairs and advised the laundry room was at the back of the basement. The occupant said he thought his dryer was on fire, along with the clothes in it. L7 advanced to the base of the stairs. It was all clear. L7 advanced to the closed laundry room door. The door was cool; TIC camera read 72 degrees. Inside the laundry room, L7 found thick gray smoke floor to ceiling, with no flames and no heat. The dryer was already unplugged, with smoke coming from all sides of it. When the dryer door was opened up, flames shot out of the dryer tumbler. L7 put the dryer and clothes fire out with the water extinguisher. L7 removed the clothes from the dryer and placed those in the front driveway. L7 checked for fire extension. Nothing was noted. Fire was contained within the machine. L7 checked the vent tubing for fire extension. No fire noted. M7 checked the exterior vents, with no fire noted. M7 assisted in ventilation of the basement.
