Address:
East Broadway
Madison, WI
Narrative:

A Madison man was driving along E. Broadway when his 2000 Saturn LW2 stalled. He coasted to the right shoulder and attempted to restart the vehicle but all he could get from it was a “pop” and a “click.” Soon after, he saw smoke rising from under the hood.

Firefighters on Engine 5 were dispatched to his location, and flames were showing from under the hood and front wheel wells upon their arrival. The owner was out of his vehicle and standing at a safe distance.

Firefighters pulled their bumper line and proceeded to extinguish fire. The vehicle suffered extensive fire damage in the engine compartment, front tires and wheel well area. Damage also extended to the instrument panel of the passenger compartment.

The owner states no recent work had been done on the vehicle. The exact cause of the fire is unknown.
