Arrival:
Sunday, December 23, 2018 - 10:43am
Address:
2500 block Fish Hatchery Road
Madison, WI
Narrative:

A vehicle fire was put to a stop before it could spread to nearby gasoline pumps thanks to the swift thinking of a Kwik Trip employee.

Ladder Company 6 was called to the 2500 block of Fish Hatchery Road to check on an extinguished vehicle fire there. Upon arrival, they found a 2005 Buick parked next to the gasoline pumps with its hood open and dry chemical extinguisher residue on the engine and underneath the car. Holding the extinguisher was an employee who saw the fire and grabbed the extinguisher to put it out. His quick actions prevented the fire from engulfing the car, potentially preventing the fire from spreading to the nearby gas pump and gas station.

The vehicle’s owner said he drove the vehicle regularly, but in the last week he’s had to jump the car multiple times.

Due to the apparent electrical fire, firefighters disconnected the car’s battery and requested a tow truck. The vehicle was insured.
