Address:
2800 block Hoard Street
Madison, WI
Narrative:

Thick black smoke rose from the scene of a vehicle fire on Hoard Street as Engine Company 8 responded to the area Friday afternoon. A full structure fire response was initially dispatched along with Engine 8 out of concern that the vehicle was parked near a building.

The vehicle was fully engulfed and situated within 20 feet of two single-family residents. Engine 8 pulled their front bumper line and proceeded to extinguish the vehicle fire with foam while also cooling the two nearby homes. All occupants were safely out of the two homes.

There was minor melting of vinyl siding on both homes. Medic 8 checked both these homes for fire extension and confirmed the fire did not spread into the homes.

The owner of the vehicle said she had been out running errands for a few hours. Sometime after returning home, she heard a loud bang and went outside to find her car on fire.

It’s unknown how the fire started. Nobody was injured during the incident.
