Address:
200 block N. Pinckney Street
Madison, WI
Narrative:

Firefighters responded to the 200 block of N. Pinckney Street Tuesday night for a vehicle fire that threatened a nearby building.

Engine Company 1 arrived to find a Jeep Liberty with fire fully involved inside the vehicle. Firefighters pulled a bumper line and promptly knocked down the fire, eliminating the threat to the building. Ladder Company 1 remained on scene with Engine 1 to assist with final extinguishment and overhaul.

The owner said he’d just arrived in Madison from out of state to help move his daughter in for grad school. The Jeep had been parked for a few hours before they attempted to move it again. That’s when the owner noticed smoke and “dripping fire” come from under the dash.

There were no problems operating the vehicle during their recent trip to Madison, there were no known mechanical problems or recent repairs done.  The cause of the fire is unknown.
