Firefighters responded to a vehicle fire in the parking lot of a hotel on the 4800 block of Hayes Road. Upon arrival, Engine Co. 8 found one vehicle fully involved with fire. It was situated next to an SUV that also caught on fire. Engine 8 pulled a line and knocked down both vehicle fires.

The driver of the first vehicle reported to firefighters he was “doing a burnout” in the lot when the rear of the car started to smoke and caught on fire. He ran into the hotel lobby to find a fire extinguisher but wasn’t able to locate one. Both his vehicle and the SUV were rental vehicles, and both appeared to be a total loss following the fire.
