Narrative:

The MFD Lake Rescue Team was dispatched to Lake Mendota, near Picnic Point, to help two people who were separated from their jet ski in choppy water Sunday evening. The jet skiers were able to call 911 and offer their approximate location to the Dane County 911 Public Safety Communications Center.

MFD divers located the abandoned jet ski and used it as a reference point as they established a search pattern to locate the individuals in the water. Moments later, the Team spotted the swimmers about 500 yards from their jet ski.

Two divers entered the water and utilized life safety ropes to assist the swimmers back to the Lake Rescue boat. The jet ski was also retrieved, and all were returned to their original launch point at Warner Park. Neither individual required EMS.
