Address:
Broom St. / Johnson St.
Madison, WI 53703
Narrative:

Firefighters and paramedics were dispatched to a crash involving a Madison Metro Bus and SUV at the corner of Broom St. and Johnston St.

Ladder 1 arrived to find the SUV resting on its passenger side. Firefighters made contact with two individuals inside. The crew began to stabilize the vehicle as additional firefighters on Engine 1 pulled a hose. There were no leaking fluids at that time, but the hose was pulled as a precaution.

One firefighter entered the vehicle through the hatchback, covered up the occupants, and talked with them as Ladder 1 began removing the front windshield and created a flap in the roof. Both individuals were then removed from the vehicle, one through the windshield and the other through the roof flap.

During these operations, a large group of bystanders began to assemble around the scene. They were asked to step back for their safety and to allow Madison Police to get into position.

Two people were transported by paramedics to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
