This fire has been ruled accidental per Fire Investigators. Damages from this fire are estimated at around $300,000.

Narrative: 

Fire significantly damaged two near eastside homes Saturday night.

Firefighters were dispatched to the 1100 block of East Mifflin Street at 7:30 pm. after a passerby called 911.

Engine 3 arrived on scene and reported smoke and flames visible from two houses, one in the 1100 block of East Mifflin and another in the 100 block of North Few Street.  Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire on the exterior of the homes and then began interior firefighting operations.

Both homes were searched to confirm that everyone had safely evacuated.

Madison Gas & Electric responded to the scene and disconnected gas and electric service to the homes.

Two firefighters received minor injuries and were transported to the hospital.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.  No damage estimate is available at this time.
