Arrival:
Tuesday, August 16, 2016 - 6:32pm
Address:
Carroll Street & W. Washington Avenue
Madison, WI
Narrative:

Two people were transported to area hospitals after being trapped under a large tree that snapped in half and fell onto the Capitol lawn and sidewalk.

A witness stated two males were walking when the tree suddenly snapped and fell on them. Wind conditions were light, and the weather was clear and sunny.

When Engine Company 1 arrived, they were directed to the two patients, who’d been pulled free by witnesses who came to their aid. Paramedics were called to the scene to check on the patients while Engine 1’s crew continued looking through the debris to make sure nobody else was trapped underneath.

Madison Police taped off the area to keep people out, and Capitol Police made arrangements for cleanup.
