Narrative:

Ladder Company 7 and two west-side ambulances were dispatched to the intersection of S. Whitney Way and Raymond Road following a two-car crash that left three injured.

The collision occurred after one vehicle traveled through the intersection against a red light at approximately 40 miles per hour. A main power pole was struck, leaving it broken at the base but still held up by power lines and guide wires.

Firefighters worked with Madison Police to clear people from the area and block traffic in case the power pole collapsed. MGE was asked to respond urgently to mitigate the electrical hazard.

Medic 7, Medic 2, and Ladder 7 made contact with the patients involved. Paramedics transported three people to area hospitals, all with non-life threatening injuries.

Meanwhile, MGE asked Ladder 7 and MPD to stay behind a while longer to control traffic until they had enough technicians on scene to take over. A tow truck came to remove both vehicles.

Ladder 7 cleared the area at 2:28 p.m., turning the scene over to MGE and MPD.
