Arrival:

Address:
3200 block Atwood Ave.
Madison, WI 53703
Narrative:

A City of Madison Parks employee was doing a routine check of the Garver Feed Mill property when he happened upon a group of teens gathered around an illegal outdoor fire.

The group fled upon seeing the Parks employee, leaving behind a pile of burning materials which included a mattress. The fire was located behind locked gates, so Engine Company 3 hiked in with two water backpacks and a water extinguisher.

The pile of rubbish was smoldering with small flames still lingering as firefighters approached. They extinguished the fire but could not identify the individuals who had been on the property prior to the fire.

The crew checked surrounding areas for any other separate fires and found no other issues.

A similar incident was reported to the Madison Fire Department in March. Residents and passersby near the Garver Feed Mill property are asked to keep an eye out for trespassing or other illegal activity.
