Narrative:

A small fire resulted in about $300 worth of damage after tarps and wood came into contact with a salamander heater.

Engine Company 12 responded to the 800 block of Blue Aster Trail after residents called in a small fire that started at the site of a fresh concrete pour. Firefighters arrived to find scrap wood and burned and melted tarps lying alongside a salamander heater. A resident unplugged the salamander and moved it away as a neighbor put out the fire with an extinguisher just prior to Engine 12’s arrival.

The residents stated that fresh concrete had just been poured near an entryway the day before. The crew that poured the concrete constructed a makeshift cover comprised of scrap wood and tarps, with a salamander operating in close proximity.

Firefighters inspected the debris and applied water to the scrap wood to ensure it was thoroughly saturated and would not reignite.
