Two boaters found themselves in distress on Upper Mud Lake near Lake Farm Park Saturday afternoon. Their cries for help led bystanders to call 911, prompting a response from the Madison Fire Department’s Lake Rescue Team and the Dane County Sheriff’s Office.

The Lake Rescue Team launched from Lottes Park in Monona and proceeded toward Upper Mud Lake, where the boaters were bailing water out of their sinking boat. The team hooked a tow line to the boat and began towing them through the shallow water toward Lake Farm Park, where their trailer was parked.

A short time later, the Dane County Sheriff’s Office took over the tow line, and the MFD Lake Rescue Team returned to Lottes Park.
