Address:
500 block Walton Place
Madison, WI
Narrative:

An east side resident was fixing breakfast when he went to turn on the stovetop and was met with a “pop” followed by smoke and fire. The man quickly evacuated his family and pets and dialed 911.

Engine Company 3 was dispatched along with a full structure fire response, finding a light haze of smoke in the house and the front of the stove clocking as seen through a thermal imaging camera. Engine 3 popped the top of the stove up, finding fire contained to the front panel of the stove. Firefighters doused the flames with a water can extinguisher and found no further fire extension.

The crew pulled the appliance from the wall and shut off the gas to the appliance before unplugging it. The home was ventilated, and all occupants were able to return.
