As crews entered the building, they noticed light smoke in the hallway. Firefighters made their way upstairs, knocking on doors attempting to alert others who may be in the building. They forced the door to a second floor apartment and encountered black smoke. The seat of the fire was found on the stove, which was quickly extinguished. As Firefighters conducted a search of the smoke-filled apartment, they found 1 adult and 2 children still asleep in their bedrooms. Firefighters assisted the family outside.

Damage is estimated at $10,000. No injuries to firefighters or occupants.
