Saturday, April 11, 2020 - 6:15pm
Address:
100 N. Livingston St.
Madison, WI 53703
Narrative:

An automatic fire sprinkler system extinguished a fire that started when cooking oil ignited on a stove top, around 6:15 pm Saturday evening.

When firefighters arrived to the 100 block of N. Livingston, they were approached by the tenant of a 4th floor apartment who said she was warming cooking oil on the stove top and the oil started on fire. Firefighters asked the two occupants if they were injured and they responded they were fine.

Crews encountered water in the 4th floor hallway as they made their way to the fire apartment. When they entered the apartment, they found the fire sprinkler system had activated and extinguished the fire. They also found the water had made its way to the apartments below.

Fire crews made sure that the property manager contacted sprinkler and fire alarm companies to rest the systems.

Fire damage was minimal. Four apartment units sustained water damage as a result of the fire.

There were no injuries.
