Address:
3400 block East Washington Ave.
Madison, WI 53704
Narrative:

A fire that consumed one semi tractor and extended to the engine compartment of another is estimated to have caused $32,000 in damage.

What began as a single-engine response to Bimbo Bakeries (3413 E. Washington Ave.) for a vehicle fire was quickly upgraded to a full structure fire response as the fire began to threaten the building.

Upon arrival, Engine Company 8 found a semi tractor fully engulfed in flames and the engine compartment of a second tractor also on fire. Engine 8 initiated fire attack with a hand line. With no hydrants located in the immediate vicinity, other crews were asked to catch a hydrant and supply additional water Engine 8. Ladder Company 8 and Engine Company 8 extinguished the fires before it could cause any additional damage to the bakery and other vehicles. There were no injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
