Narrative:

Firefighters were called to Schoep's Ice Cream after a valve fitting was accidentally knocked off a compressor and caused an ammonia vapor leak in the building.

The system was shut down, and all workers were able to safely exit the building per their emergency procedure. Engine Company 3 arrived and met with a safety manager who said the leak was capped and ammonia levels were now at 11 ppm. Initial readings were around 2000 ppm.

The ventilation system was turned on, and a large fan was placed in the doorway to assist with air flow. Firefighters remained on location during ventilation and continued to monitor the air. They left after ammonia levels officially reached 0 ppm inside the building.
