Narrative:

The City of Madison Fire Department was called to a fire in a multi-unit residential building on Ski Court in the Town of Madison Tuesday night at 10:42 pm. A nearby neighbor had noticed flames in the direction of the building and called 911.
Engine 3 arrived first to the scene and found a large body of fire climbing up the back corner of the two story building from a second story balcony toward the attic. They began an aggressive attack and extinguished the fire on the outside of the building. They then moved to the interior to an upstairs unit and accessed the attic where they continued to fight the blaze. When Ladder 6 arrived they began an interior search of the entire building to ensure that all of the residents had exited safely. Meanwhile other crews supplied water for the fire fight and checked all exterior sides of the building to make sure that no other areas were on fire. The fire was completely extinguished at 11:10 pm.
The City of Madison recently began to provide fire services to the Town of Madison. There were no injuries caused by the fire but residents from two units of the building have been displaced. The Madison Fire Investigation Team has started the process of determining the cause of the fire. Damages are estimated at $100,000. Investigators say that the crews did a fantastic job of containing and stopping the fire from spreading through the attic with their aggressive tactics. In another few minutes the fire would have spread and eventually taken the roof off like we have seen at other multi-family structures throughout the region.
