Narrative: 

A resident on the near-east side caught a potential dryer fire before it began Friday. She said she turned on her dryer and started to smell something burning. She turned off the appliance and called 911.
 
Firefighters found the dryer vent was plugged, creating a small amount of smoke. The piping was removed from the dryer, and the occupant was told to replace it before drying any more clothes.
