One person was taken to the hospital Friday after being struck by a minivan on West Washington Avenue.

All three inbound lanes of traffic remained at a standstill as the injured pedestrian and witnesses awaited help. Witnesses told paramedics and EMTs that a minivan had been swerving through traffic and struck the pedestrian, who was crossing the street there. The vehicle was reportedly traveling 20-30 miles per hour at the time of the collision and sped off following the incident.

The pedestrian was alert and able to tell paramedics what happened. He was transported to a nearby hospital with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening.
