Narrative:

Engine Co. 10 responded to a residence where fire broke out on a stovetop. The occupant stated they were cooking and added oil to a hot skillet. The oil flashed when it hit the skillet and the cabinets above the stove caught on fire. The occupant threw some baking soda on the fire before evacuating and called 911. The baking soda helped some, but fire was still active when firefighters entered the kitchen. Engine 10’s crew extinguished the remaining fire with a water can and shut down all electricity to the immediate area. Engine Co. 8 helped to clear out smoke from the home.

There were no injuries resulting from the fire, but the occupant was unable to stay in their home due to the extent of damage.
