Narrative:

One person was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries after a fire was discovered in his mobile home.

The occupant was at a neighbor’s residence when they both began to smell smoke. He soon discovered smoke coming from his mobile home, and both ran over to get the dog out. After rescuing the dog, which was not injured, the occupant grabbed a garden hose and attempted to put out the fire. He suffered injuries while trying to fight the fire.

When firefighters arrived on scene, the mobile home was fully involved with flames rolling out the back windows. High winds threatened to spread the fire to nearby homes. As Medic 10 prepared to protect nearby properties, Engine Co. 10 began fire attack from the exterior. After knocking down a large amount of the fire, Engine 10 advanced inside to finish the job.

The Madison Fire Department’s Fire Investigation Team remains on scene to determine the cause of the fire. The mobile home is uninhabitable as a result of the fire damage and likely considered a total loss.
