Narrative:

Early this morning the Madison Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire in the 6100 block of Odana Road. A person arriving for work noticed a fire alarm going off in a neighboring business. She tried to look in the window, but could not see in because it was full of soot. The window was hot and she noticed the smell of smoke outside as well as in her business. She called 911 and fire trucks were dispatched.

Upon arriving and entering the building, the firefighters encountered heavy smoke, and found a small fire in the rear part of the building. The fire was quickly extinguished, and a thorough search was made to confirm that there were no people in the building. Firefighters also checked to make sure that the fire had not extended to any other parts of the building, and the building was ventilated to remove the smoke.

It appeared that the fire had been slowly burning for a period of time and had been producing heavy amounts of smoke. The fire was able to be contained to one part of the building, and nobody was injured.

There are no estimates at this time for the cost of the damage, and the cause of the fire has not yet been determined. .
