Fire investigators have determined this fire was accidental due to an unattended candle. Damages from this fire are estimated at $30,000.

Narrative: 

The Madison Fire Department responded to the 900 block of Magnolia Lane following multiple calls to 911.

Ladder Co. 6 arrived on scene to find smoke showing from the front of the building. All occupants made it outside but reported there were still pets inside the apartment. Firefighters entered the apartment and located fire in the living room. Two dogs were found and rescued right away. Following a swift knockdown of the fire, Ladder Co. 6 also located and rescued a pet rabbit. All people and pets made it through the incident uninjured.

Five occupants are temporarily displaced and will be connected with the American Red Cross. Dane County Animal Services providing additional supplies for some of the displaced pets. The Madison Fire Department’s Fire Investigation Team is looking into the cause of the fire.
