Occupants were temporarily evacuated from their homes Thursday after a natural gas line was struck in the vicinity.

Engine Co. 10 responded to the 200 block of Mallard Lane, where a skid steer had shifted some concrete and broke a natural gas line coming out of the ground. The gas line was set to serve a future mobile home on the site. Firefighters alerted MGE, and occupants of four mobile homes downwind of the leak were evacuated.

Engine 10 was able to stop the leak with one of their tools, and and occupants were invited to return to their homes around 1:00 p.m. MGE was on location shortly thereafter to make permanent repairs to the broken line.
