A natural gas leak prompted the evacuation of several households on Indian Trace, near Crest View Drive, this afternoon.

The MFD was dispatched to the area 1:20 p.m. after a natural gas line was struck by construction equipment. As MGE responded, firefighters began evacuating the area. A senior living facility and multiple households were impacted. An ambulance was dispatched to the scene as a precaution, but nobody needed EMS.

MGE had the leak isolated and contained at 1:57 p.m. Those who were evacuated were able to return to their homes Cooling buses were not needed during the duration of the incident. MFD cleared from the incident at 2:13 p.m.
