Narrative:

The Madison Fire Department, along with MGE, are investigating multiple reports of natural gas odor in the area of Old Sauk Road and High Point Road.

Ladder Company 2 was first dispatched to the intersection of N. High Point Road and Wolf Street at 11:59 a.m. after a 911 caller reported a "very strong" natural gas odor outside. Initially unable to locate such an odor, firefighters continued to canvas the area along with Madison Police. An odor of natural gas was detected around the area of High Point Road and Brule, as well as High Point and Tree Lane. Around 12:20 p.m., the Dane County 911 Communications Center received additional calls reporting the smell of natural gas in other areas along N. High Point Road, as well as Junction Road.

Crews continue to search for the source of the natural gas odor. For your safety, avoid the area while officials conduct their investigation.

This release will be updated when more information becomes available.
