Narrative:
City of Madison Firefighters extinguished a fire that ignited from a lightning strike and caused $50,000 in damage.
An occupant of the three-flat apartment complex heard an explosion and called 911 around 6:00 pm.
When firefighters arrived to the 100 block of W. Wilson Street, they could see smoke from a third floor window. Occupants evacuated and were found outside.
The fire was contained to the subspace after the lightning had followed a pipe chase. Firefighters had to open walls and ceilings in order to extinguish the fire.
2nd and 3rd floor apartments suffered damage.
No injuries reported as a result of the fire.
Occupants will be staying with friends and family.
