Power lines down
Dispatch:
Wednesday, March 8, 2017 - 10:52am
Arrival:
Wednesday, March 8, 2017 - 10:59am
Address:
900 block Pflaum Road
Madison, WI 53704
Narrative:

Multiple residents in the area of Pflaum Road and Spaanem Avenue were told to stay inside yesterday after strong winds toppled a large fir tree, taking down power lines.

The tree fell on the power lines running north between a nearby cemetery and the backyards of homes on Spaanem Avenue. One power pole snapped under the weight of the tree, and lines dangled low in neighbors’ backyards.

No electrical arcing was observed, but Engine Company 5 requested Madison Police to assist with traffic control and diversion. Firefighters blocked sidewalks on Pflaum Road and contacted residents to stay inside until MGE could mitigate the electrical hazards.
