Address:
4300 block Cottage Grove Road
Madison, WI
Narrative:

A semi rolled over in the driveway of a local warehouse when a load of ice cream it was carrying shifted, throwing the trailer’s balance off-kilter. The driver was not injured.

The semi was traveling only about 5 miles per hour as it made a sharp right-hand turn into a driveway at Central Storage Warehouse. The trailer drove over some landscape rocks, causing dozens of pallets packed with ice cream to shift inside the trailer. When the trailer overturned, it took the cab of the semi with it.

Medic 5 and Engine Co. 14 found the semi resting against a couple of electrical power poles. Firefighters assisted the driver from the cab. He had been wearing his seatbelt and said he was not injured. Engine 14 mitigated a small antifreeze and oil leaks, and MGE responded to check and repair the power poles.  A small tree was also damaged in the rollover.

MGE and MPD remained on scene as warehouse staff devised a plan for removing the ice cream from the trailer before a tow company would work to flip the truck back onto its wheels.
