Arrival:
Monday, September 26, 2016 - 6:35am
Address:
Mineral Point Rd. / Junction Rd.
Madison, WI
Narrative:

Multiple people called 911 upon witnessing a possible vehicle fire near Mineral Point Road and Junction Road.

There was no vehicle fire when Ladder Company 2 arrived at the intersection; however, there was a Chevy Cruz parked in the left turn lane of westbound Mineral Point Road at Commerce Dr.

Firefighters introduced themselves to the driver, who said she ran over a bag containing unknown objects while driving on the Beltline. She was on her way to drop her son off at school, and the bag became caught on the car’s exhaust system. She believed the bag and the exhaust system may have caught on fire.

Ladder 2 found no signs of active fire, but there were remnants of what appeared to be burned newspapers around the exhaust system. There was no damage to the undercarriage or passenger and engine compartments of the vehicle, and the car was operating normally.
