Narrative: 

Five people are displaced following a residential fire on Schroeder Road. Nobody was injured.

Firefighters from Station 7 and other west side companies responded to an apartment complex on the 6700 block of Schroeder Road to find heavy black smoke coming from a ground-level unit. Ladder Company 7 found and extinguished hot embers coming from the kitchen stove. All five occupants had safely escaped the apartment, but all were displaced. The American Red Cross responded to provide them assistance.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time but remains under investigation. Damage estimates currently rest at around $5000.
