Narrative:

Firefighters were dispatched to an outside fire resulting from improperly discarded cigarettes. Engine Co. 9 and other west side crews responded to the 5200 block of South Hill Drive. Light smoke was seen coming from the eaves and ridge vents, but the fire had already been put out by the homeowner with the use of a garden hose. Firefighters did find high heat in the garage and performed some overhaul to cool down the structure and prevent fire from rekindling. The garage suffered charring in the attic but the occupants were not displaced and there were no injuries. Firefighters were advised cigarettes had been discarded in a box in the area where the fire started.
